About Blackwood Arms

Blackwood Arms is based in the heart of the Arsenal of Democracy and has the legacy of over 3oo years of supporting Freedom around the world. No other manufacturer has such a long, and rich heritage.

Blackwood Arms is Detroit’s,  scratch that Nations Premier Manufacturer

S.B.R. will forever stand for Small Batch Receivers, not Short Barrel Rifles. Blackwood Arms has low production runs of 50-100 units per cycle.  This allows us to have a stringent quality control that no other “Manufacturer” has.   Anyone can sit and feed a machine with thousands of forgings and never notice a single thing. Residing within every Blackwood receiver is a part of us and the resilient need for perfection only found in the Motor City.

The other guys throw away more scrap & botched parts in a month then we craft in a whole year.

Words like Mil-Spec, Precision, Tactical are thrown around this business like bread crumbs being feed to ducks, are you a duck?  We didn’t think so either. Instead here at Blackwood Arms we’re analytically anal about the finished product we present to you, our client. We go beyond the “standard” that we hear about daily in forums and blogs and reviews.  Instead how about a company that uses American Machines with American Tooling on ALL AMERICAN Aluminum (and some titanium) all done by American Craftsmen.  A company that values its clients, its consistency and its American Heritage that will never be compromised.

Despite Artic Vortex cold snaps and a record snowfall for Michigan, Our robodrill arrived early this January.  No time was wasted and no storm could slow us down. Shortly after delivery tooling was mounted and fixtures were being hand made.

Literally tons of Aluminum arrived a week or so later and programs were written.  You have to love being in the Motor City, endless convoys of pure shiny 7075-T6 Rolling down the road and backing in to the loading docks. Now having the ability to make quick and precise adjustments makes life much easier here at Blackwood Arms.  Not to mention the ability to run a few extra prototypes (left eject anyone).

In addition to tooling up we have developed a 100% proprietary Five-phase anodization system that is like no other. This process guarantees the consistency and continuity that you should expect from a true manufacturer.
